Spring 2012

From the Garden Coordinator:

Greetings Gardeners,

We're not even into June and the weeds in my driveway are already at their July heights!

Good news and bad at the garden: while admiring our early crops of beans and lettuces, Tracy, Meredith and I spied a large healthy rabbit lurking among George's rose bushes. We shooed it out of the garden and discovered its point of entry, a large hole in the southern fence! I put a patch over the hole and inspected the rest of the fence to make sure this furry fella didn't have another doorway to rabbit heaven.

Other news: Meredith, Sue and I visited the Northbrook Garden Club Garden Sale last Saturday and the ladies there generously donated a passel of perennials for our garden (again).

Please welcome new gardeners Jean Merz and Leeann Artstein, two gardeners who were formerly gardening at St. Peter's Church; Robert and Charlote Mann, another pair of St. Pete's refugees; Charlene Gould, our third former St. Pete's gardener.

Best Green Wishes Everybody, and a Hearty St. Giles Welcome to our new gardeners!

Jim Brooks
