"Come and see!"
In the first chapter of the gospel according to John, two disciples of John the Baptizer follow after Jesus and ask him, "Rabbi, where are you staying?" Jesus replies, "Come and see."
In that same chapter of John, when Nathanael questions Philip about Jesus and wonders "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip responds to him, "Come and see."
We at St. Giles invite you to "Come and see!"
In our parish you will find a faith community that is hospitable and open, where all people are welcome regardless of age, religious background (or lack thereof!), gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or marital status. A number of interchurch and interfaith couples have found a spiritual home here. We seek to support such couples in their respective faith journeys, and do not try to 'convert' the non-Episcopalian or non-Christian partner or spouse. We recognize that the invitation to Christ's table comes not from the priest or the parish, but from our Lord himself who practiced radical and inclusive hospitality.
At St. Giles the traditions of the Church are practiced and valued, but not enshrined. We realize that true faith honors, rather than prohibits, questions about God, theology, and spirituality - questions about life. We engage our intellects, our spirits - as well as our five senses - in our worship, wherein we seek to experience the breadth of the Church's liturgical and musical tradition, from very early materials up through the newest authorized rites.
Our website gives information about our parish, worship, and ministries. And of course, you're welcome to e-mail or phone me at any time. But there is no better way to learn what the Episcopal/Anglican tradition can offer you here at St. Giles than to discover it for yourself. Curious? Intrigued? "Come and see!"
Faithfully yours,
Cynthia J. Hallas +
Rector
